Summer is the season of bright colors and summer 2016 is no exception. Although it may sound easy enough, adding color to a plain room isn’t always simple. Yes, you can paint a wall and call it a day – but what if you live in a rented space that doesn’t allow painting, or you simply don’t want to go through the trouble involving paint, messy brushes, time and energy that could be saved? Your best bet to add a splash of color is a bright area rug. One of the many pros of choosing an area rug is that there are a wide range of patterns and sizes available – and all you have to do is roll it out on your floor and enjoy. We have narrowed down this year’s summer trends to four key themes:
1. Art Deco-Inspired Patterns and Shapes
Art deco is making a big comeback in home design world, especially when it comes to rugs, especially in modern rugs. Keep your eye out for geometric patterns, such as these colorful dhurries, as they will add a sense of dimension and order to your space.
2. Encaustic Tiles
If you want to take your geometric pattern up a notch, consider an intricate patterned tile design for your area rug to complement a simple room.
3. Textured Wool Rugs & Carpets
Textured wool or other natural fibers are one of the go-to looks for this year, especially for area rugs. Its neutral hues create the perfect indoor/outdoor vibe while softening bolder colors or dramatic statement pieces.
4. Vintage Pieces
Neutrals are and have been in for quite some time. Less is more. When it comes to your home decor, minimalism is always a great choice and will stay prominent for quite some time. But the main theme for this season is to spruce up your neutral space with a pop of color, and an artisan piece is a fantastic addition to any room. Kilim rugs are a great way to transform your neutral area and add a vintage look to it. Whether you’re a fan of neutral modern looking home design, or the traditional look, there is no doubt that a pop of color brings life to your home.
