Olefin carpet is the second best selling carpet fiber behind nylon. Also known as Polypropylene, Olefin is popular because it has some great qualities. It is solution dyed and is the most color fast of all carpet fibers. It resists water and water based stains, but note that it is susceptible to oil based stains. It dries quickly after getting wet, therefore is less susceptible to mold and mildew. It performs well in sun lit areas and is often used for Indoor/Outdoor carpets and rugs.

Olefin carpet may tend to mat in places that are heavily walked on, therefore it may be best in less trafficked areas. For better performance, consider staying with low pile or low loop construction. Although Olefin cleans well, it does tend to take on a dingy appearance over time.
